ABSTRACT
Due to the investments of foreign companies, Poland became in a short time a big manufacturer of modern combustion engines. The success that was achieved should be maintained, as Poland still remains an attractive place for investments, and especially for the manufacturers from Western Europe who are looking for economies. Poland competes for getting new investments with many other countries. This article is an answer to the question concerning the reasons for such a situation, and it covers possible ways of engine industry development in our country in the aspect of the development of vehicle drives and the competitiveness of Polish scientific and technological potential as compared with other countries. This article presents the position of Poland as a manufacturer of engines as compared with world trends. The facts that decide about the attractiveness of Poland as a place of engine industry investment location are presented in this article as well as the presence of competitive advantage of other countries in some issues.
